Simple College Life
Getting Sick in College
I have been here four years and can honestly say that I have been sick about 30 percent of the time. Now, I wish I were I hypochondriac. But the cold and flu symptoms are certainly a constant in my life. If any of my friends have caught something, chances are, I will get it too.
Now, I have always heard of the many things that make students more prone to illness. The close proximity to people in dorms, the constant sharing of cups and saliva and the shared air conditioner in classrooms. Until now I am starting to wonder… are there any ways to actually prevent this?
Here is a list of tips that college students should try following to attempt a normal, healthy life.
Of those tips, I do believe the hardest to follow are the eating of fruits and vegetables on a regular basis, not skipping meals and taking vitamins. As young people we are careless, and all of these things require some extra thought and discipline into something we are used to taking for granted: our bodies.
This is not even counting being overweight, drinking, caffeine excess and smoking. I am barely speaking of immune system here… how much damage are we actually inflicting on our bodies?
