The Exceptions

Godawful parents

Who are the exceptions to normal human beings this week? Bad Parents.

I was given a shock this week when I read a story about 2 terrible parents who should never have been allowed to reproduce. According to The News Herald, in Panama City, Fla., John Paul and Jessica Huskey are a couple of the worst when it comes to parents. Last Thursday, the Huskeys were enjoying a night of doing meth and John Paul decided to jump on a chair that consequently broke into pieces. This action caused a nail from the chair to go into the couple’s 18-month-old child’s head. The Huskeys were not ready to end their meth binge for the night so they decided to patch the kid up with some duct tape and get on with their business. The child wasn’t taken to the hospital until the next morning when the mother called 911 and said her baby was “not doing well” and “turning colors.”

So there you have it, John Paul Huskey and Jessica Huskey have inspired my blog post for this week. They are the cream of the crop when it comes to terrible parents.

Following in their footsteps is an anonymous parent who disposed of his/her unborn baby in the sewage system of Greer, South Carolina. WLTX-TV in Columbia, S.C., reported the fetus was an 18-week-old stillborn female that was found on Monday in a filter bin at a waste water treatment plant. While it was reported that no laws were broken, I think whomever was involved in this situation did not make a very good decision. As awful as a miscarriage is disposing of the fetus into the sewage system for plant workers to find shows lack of care and respect for a human being and child. This is a tragic example of parenting gone way wrong.

And if you have not been convinced enough I have one more ridiculous example of a terrible parenting. On September 22, an Ocala, Fla., man, was arrested for felony lewd and lascivious behavior, as reported by The News Herald. The man was found in bed with his 11-year-old daughter. He was not named in order to protect the identity of his daughter. It was soon discovered through interviews that the girl’s father had been molesting her since the summer. There are many more details in the story if you want more information.

Well, there you go. I am happy to say these people are the exceptions when it comes to parents, but sad that these events took place. Why are people like this allowed to have children?
