Florida's Stupid

Big, fat liar

Welcome back to the Oct. 31 edition of Florida’s Stupid. And in true Halloween fashion, we’ll be examining a murder case this week.

A Florida man actually believes his size is an acceptable excuse to get him out of murder charges.

Edward Ates, 62 and 285 pounds, said he was too fat to kill his son-in-law back in 2006.

Now, it’s not like Ates strangled him or chased him around with a knife. He shot him.

I’m sorry but when did being obese mean you can’t accurately fire a gun?

His attorney claims he wouldn’t have the energy to run up a staircase, shoot accurately and leave before they police arrived.

If Ates really was innocent he should have been able to craft a better defense. And even if he did do it he shouldn’t hide behind his weight issues to try and get out of murder charges.

As the case goes on, prosecutors are finding more evidence pointing to Ates’ guilt and the fact that he’s nothing more than a big, fat liar.

I hate "Twilight" and anything to do with vampires.
